Did you know there are 32 million adult caregivers who don’t identify themselves as “caregivers”?
Are you one of them?
Do you view your role as a spouse, an adult child or family member caring for an elder or someone else?
But no matter how you see yourself, you can easily feel isolated, stressed and overwhelmed by caregiving.
Do you feel alone and don’t know where to go or who to ask for help and support?
That’s why we’ve created Caregiving Heroes to:
• Reach out to ALL caregivers with the help and support they need…
• Create a movement and a caregiving community to find creative solutions for this Epidemic of Caregiving and build the will and support to take action and transform caregiving…
• Increase public and political awareness of the Caregiving Crisis that affects a total of 43 million caregivers in numerous ways every day (see below).
That’s also why we’ve created the Caregiving Heroes Story Contest…
The Caregiving Heroes Contest will start in October 2015 and you can find more information on our Facebook Page. You can enter yourself, or enter a family caregiver you know.
You’ll be asked to share the caregiver’s picture and story. Story submissions can be by written text, audio submissions or videos. We’ll be adding more details in the next few weeks, and we suggest you return to this page to stay up to date.
We would love to include you.
P.S. The role of family caregivers has been dramatically altered to include medical tasks that have always been performed in hospitals for which they have little or NO training. More than half reported feeling depressed or hopeless and more than a third reported fair or poor health. There is an urgent need for individual and collective action.
