One of the most challenging family caregiver skills can be transferring your carereceiver. Most care partners need personal training to transfer safely although a video can help your memory and technique.
This video shows the basics of Transfer Skills, including the 3 safety rules. There are situations in which other transfer skills are needed, and this video does not show all possibilities. It is provided for educational purposes only. This video is not a substitute for personal “Transfer Skills Training” or advice from your personal physician.
Consider asking your personal or your carereceiver’s physician to schedule “Transfer Skills Training” with a physical therapist if you need or will need these caregiver skills. A physical therapist can give you the personal training you need for your caregiving situation to do this safely.
Safe transfer is important. Safe for both care partners – the carereceiver and the caregiver. If there is any question about safety or your transfer caregiver skills, get expert advice before transfer.
