One of the funniest sizing statements is, “One size fits all.”
That rarely works for humans or dogs as this story illustrates…
Emma is a toy poodle.
She’s a rescued dog who was spayed by the Humane Society at an advanced age. Eight years ago the Humane Society vet estimated her age at eight or nine years.
Which means she may be as old as 119 in human years.
Like many girl dogs who are spayed late in life she has—well—incontinence problems. 🙂
And finding incontinence products that fit are challenging…
She also has a tail docked too short by a previous owner. So the regular doggie diapers with a hole for the tail don’t work. She actually fits better into size 1 infant (human) diapers.
Although it took awhile to find the right brand. Some of the brands don’t hug her waist tight enough, and she could step right out of them. Attempting to custom fit them just didn’t work.
Changing brands helped; she now has the right size diapers.
What does a dog’s diapers have to do with finding adult incontinence products that fit?
Well, finding disposable diapers for Emma reminds me of the problem my mother had. The disposable underwear available locally just didn’t fit.
It’s interesting because most of them seem about the same. Whether they are store brands or nationally known.
Running from store to store only to be disappointed with the results is frustrating and discouraging. And exhausting when you’re already drained emotionally and physically from caregiving.
The lack of any sales clerks interested or available in helping also added to the problem.
What was the solution?
Well, once again my sister had a brilliant idea. She suggested I look online, especially at a company she’d recently seen advertised. Although skeptical, I looked.
Amazingly, they were the solution. They had a wide selection of affordable incontinence products, and help available by phone if needed. They even had a washable reusable pad that inhibited bacteria! Nice for someone bedridden.
And you know they also had sample packs to try. They even delivered to the house in unmarked boxes.
No embarrassment with checking out with a cart full of incontinence products.
Plus they have FREE shipping.
And there’s more…
After my mother’s passing and I didn’t reorder, the company called to see if I needed any supplies. The lady who called was very kind and understanding.
A couple of days later a sympathy card arrived signed by their staff.
A company that cares enough to have their employees personally sign a sympathy card.
Would I order from them again?
